We were instrumental in the awarding of two grants in 2019 by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) to Homer Memorial Hospital dba Claiborne Memorial Medical Center in Homer, LA. The first grant, in the amount of $200,000, was a planning grant that established a consortium of stakeholders that included Hope & Healing Hands, the Claiborne Parish District Attorney’s Office, the Claiborne Parish School Board, and Lincoln Nova Vital Recovery Center in Ruston, LA. The consortium became known as the “North Louisiana Rural Opioid Healthcare Network” and held a Summit in February 2020. The purpose of the grant was to create sustainable solutions for the growing opioid epidemic as it impacts the rural north central region of Louisiana. The second grant, in the amount of $1 million, was awarded for establishing prevention, treatment, and recovery services for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
